Boxwood are most commonly seen as a landscaping shrub and actually do not have natural range. They are a very idea species for bonsai due to their already small leaf size and naturally shallow, dense root systems. Although they tend to be brittle and thicken branches slowly, boxwood can be a very long lived species. They will produce a very small flower in the spring which is proceed by a green fruit. They are evergreen and very frost hardy with a zone of 6-9. Dabbled sunlight is best for dense dark green foliage on these trees.
