Ulmus alata (BG19-54) *SOLD*
Dimensions: Trunk base 3”, Soil to chop 5.5”
Winged elm or “wahoo” is easily identifiable by it’s pronounced corky ridges that occur on it’s woody branches. These ridges somewhat resemble “wings”. Like other elms in it’s family they are very vigorous growers and take well to tight pruning techniques creating dense ramification in their structure. Winged elms are a great species for beginners as they are very forgiving and can be drought tolerant. Winged elms are typically under story trees but can stand full sun part of the day. Their zone 6-9.
